Street Photography Tips for the Purist
Just stumbled across this really interesting ebook (don’t worry, it’s a free PDF download) about street photography called Street Photography For The Purist (download link is on the left hand side).
It seems to have been put together by a guy called Chris Weeks with contributions from various street photographers - each with a few of their photos and a few paragraphs about the philosophy behind their street photography.
These words from Darren Abate resonated with my personal photography philosophy…
To me, everyday life is fascinating. The routines, the surprises, the mountains of new things we all experience every day. One can walk down any given street and see thousands if individual stories being played out in real time. We see slices of life; a few sentences, or maybe a paragraph, of someone else’s life as you brush past them in a shop, or a coffee house, or anywhere. Where do those moments go once you’re finished with them? Who records them and keeps them safe? Who proves they ever existed?
I do.
You do.
Check it out but don’t blame me if you’re tempted into buying a Leica!
